A Cavs vs. Nuggets finals would be a nice consolation prize

These days, everyone is so focused on a LeBron vs. Kobe NBA finals matchup. I’m here to tell you that playing the Nuggets would be quite the juicy NBA finals as well. Sure, it wouldn’t get the ratings that a Cavs vs. Lakers series would get, but there are multiple storylines that the mainstream media aren’t talking about.
First off, the Cavs have to get past the Magic. I’m not trying to disrespect Orlando. I’m just gazing into my crystal ball here. If the red hot Nuggets get past L.A.–which is a tall task–it would pit fellow 2003 draft class members LeBron and Carmelo Anthony against one another. Granted, this individual showdown no longer has the appeal that it once did. Anthony is a fine player in his own right, but LeBron passed him him years ago. Still, to have these high profile players from that wonderful draft class go against eachother cannot be ignored.
Besides that, there are a few other great storylines as well. Once again, Billups would be going head-to-head against a Cleveland team. He was at the front and center of those hard fought Cavs vs. Pistons showdowns. Also of note, I would be personally fascinated to see tough guy Kenyon Martin go against Anderson Varejao. Andy can be an irritant. How would Martin–a volatile guy, deal with the sort of peskiness that Varejao can bring to the table.
If the casual NBA fan tunes out a finals that doesn’t involve the Cavs and Lakers–well then, they are really missing out on something. There’s plenty of good angles that people could look at here.

I think nuggets would actually be a more exciting finals than kobe/lebron. People dont really realize how good carmelo really is until theyve seen a couple of his games. I think hes better than kobe as a scorer. And while no one is better than kobe with the game on the line, Carmelo/Lebron would match up well for quite a few great finishes.
